Mushroom enthusiast Debbie Klein will help us identify the many species of fungi we encounter along the trail (we’ll just be looking, no collecting allowed in the park). We’ll also visit a couple of lagoons (aka “newtist colonies”) to view the amorous activities of the park’s amphibians and learn their fascinating natural history! TOTAL DISTANCE This is a moderate 3-4 mile round trip hike. LEADER Debbie Klein WEATHER POLICY Rain cancels COST Free; Reservations Required WHERE TO MEET We’ll assemble at the gate for the Old Briones Road Trail at the end of Old Briones Road. There is a drinking fountain and outhouse at the trailhead. NOTES Bring snacks or lunch and water. Dress in layers and wear good hiking shoes. Bring hiking poles if you normally use them. Portions of the trail may be muddy. If you have questions about this outing, email klavin@greenbelt.org or phone (415) 543-6771 x321.
