There’s a lot to know about Senate Bill 9.
SB9, which would allow up to four housing units on lots currently zoned as single-family, just sailed through California’s state legislature by an overwhelming margin of 45-19. The proposed law is vehemently opposed by many of the state’s homeowner groups, but SB9 has major support amongst Democratic politicians and activists. It’s now likely to become law, and could radically alter the real estate map in California.
But a bigger question might make the sweeping legislation entirely pointless. Where exactly would California get the water for all those new homes?
